THE WAYNE BULAK AWARD

The Kingston Track and Field Club is pleased to honour the memory of Wayne Bulak with an annual award that will be presented to two athletes who show commitment, positive attitude, integrity, dedication, and perseverance. Wayne Bulak was a pioneer for track and field in the Kingston and Napanee area. In 1973 he helped form the Kingston Track and Field Club. Wayne had a low-key and quiet approach to coaching. Despite his incredible resume of coaching credentials, he was humble, kind, and willing to give advice to athletes and coaches. His athletes achieved at the national and international level and more importantly, developed a lifelong love for track and field. Many of Wayne’s former athletes are now coaching. In 1992 he received the Kingston Community Sports Achievement Award. In 1993 Wayne was the first winner of the Bev Goulding award for his contribution to school athletics and received a Special Achievement award for volunteers from the Province of Ontario for his work with the Ontario Track and Field Association. He was an Ontario team coach at the 1985 Canada Games. In 2001 Wayne was inducted into the Kingston and District Sports Hall of Fame.

Award will be presented at The Kingston Track & Field General Meeting held annualy in June.
